Seminary period trustee |
Reuben W. Brush was a member of the original Board of Trustees of Shimer College, at the dawn of the Seminary period. As with most of these early trustees, his exact dates of service are unclear. However, he appears to have been the first trustee to leave the board; his name is the only one of the original ten that does not appear in announcements from the spring and summer of 1853.[1]
Brush was also an early officer with the Savanna Branch Railroad. He was the first county clerk of Carroll County, sworn into office on December 3, 1849, with John Irvine, Sr. and Aaron Belding as bondsmen.[1]
