Miss Totten Gives a Piano Recital at the Academy—Her Own Compositions

Mt. Carroll, Jan. 11.—There is no doubt but the piano recital given by Miss Totten last evening was the finest thing of the kind ever given here. Miss Totten ranks with the best artists in the United States. She played one of her own compositions and Mrs. Jacobs sang three of her beautiful little songs. When Miss Totten plays it is to interpret the author. Her rendering of the Minuet by Beethoven was simply perfect. Miss Arnold, who played the orchestral accompaniment, is a pupil of Miss Totten's and shows a great deal of talent. The following was the program: Concerto, E flat, Franz Liszt; Songs (Mss.) Luella Totten; My Heaven Dear, The Sweetest Flower that Blooms, The Boat of My Lover, Mrs. Jacobs. Piano solos, Prelude and Fugue, J.S. Bach; Minuet, Beethoven; Fantasie (Mss.) Luella Totten. Concerto, A Minor, Edward Grieg.
