Joretta Mountford, née Joretta Chermak, was a student at Shimer College at the end of the Academy period, in the class of 1951.

- Joretta was born on June 15, 1931 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Harry and Mabel (Peterson) Chermak. She attended schools in Manitowoc and graduated with the class of 1949 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. She then attended Francis Shimer College in Mount Carroll studying music. She furthered her education in health and physical education at George Williams College. On June 12, 1954 she married John W. "Jack" Mountford in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on August 6, 1998.
- Joretta was an active member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a volunteer at the Rahr-West Museum, Pine Crest Historical Village, Manitowoc County Historical Society, past president Manitowoc Elk's Lodge #687 Ladies Auxiliary, past member of the Manitowoc Library Foundation Board of Trustees. Joretta was very active with Girl Scouts, Heart-a-Rama and the Masquers. Joretta was also an avid bridge player.
