438 N. Sheridan Road, Waukegan

The 438 building, known in Waukegan architectural history as the Robert A. Conolly residence, was the main classroom building throughout the Waukegan period of Shimer College history (1979-2006). It was built around 1845 in the Greek Revival style, and expanded in 1871 in the Italianate style.

On May 15, 2006, the 438 building was designated part of the Shimer Historic District. As of 2012, it is operated as a professional office building, chiefly housing law firms.
