Miss Ferguson's study of the middle classes was the more Interesting to those listeners who were familiar with Mr. Arnold’s reflections upon the gen-tus and afhievements of that element of society. The middle class we were told, is the earnest, thinking, working ana naturally ruling class. It must guard against Its place being usurped by other power, partlcually wealth. Her conclusion seemed tooe true that the safety of a country depends upon the integrity of this class.
