Thursday 14.th Mailed a letter home. A very hard shower last night. Miss Pennington called to see if she could take lessons in French.

Friday 15.th A fine day- our usual Retorical (?) [...] classes in the afternoon.

Saturday 16.th Spent the day in writing. In the morning Mr. Hostetter sent us a present of a jar of beautiful currant jelly. Prepared our part of the Circular & sent it down to Mr. Wilson by Helen. In the evening, Mrs. Irvine made us quite a visit. She is truly a noble, amiable woman- if this town could boast of more such women our school must succeed.

Sabbath 17.th In the mornin I attended the Sabbath School; they gave me a new class & a good one. I think now I may attend regularly & with some interest. Heard Mr. Winslow (the circuit preacher) for the first; it was Mrs. Edward's funeral sermon. In the evening we heard Mr. Allison etc.
