Eight new scholars today. Miss Seaman accompanied us about town; called at Messers N. Halderman, Hostetter & Irvines. Mr. Wilson called in the evening to say that he had procured the services of Rev. J. V. Allison to take charge of the languages; it's quite a relief. Mr. A. is just from Philadelphia. Cinda paid our week's board, $4.50 for both of us.
Tues. 17.th A hard shower during the day. I was sick with the "teeth ache," did not go over to school atall; commenced a letter home the first since we arrived at Mt. C. though I mailed one to Isaac (directed toTrivolia Peoria Co.) last week. In the evening Mrs.Norton & Mrs. Grey called; asked our opinion about their letting the girls attend parties; I wonder if they were not quizing. Another puff in the "Carroll Republican".
