Sabbath 24th. Spent the day home.
Monday 25th. A snowy morning. Isaac carried me up to school. I went to Mr. Thomases at night &c.
Tuesday 26th. A pleasant day. In the afternoon Mr. Geo. Taylor called to see me about Miss Gregory teaching this school as they had made up that they were anxious to get her & he wished me to write her on the subject but would name but $15 per month. I told him I would have nothing to do with such an offer; that they were able to pay more for such a teacher & that it was but an imposition to her & more especially since they were at this very time willing to pay me $25 per month while Miss Gregory was _far superior_ to me in _every_ respect. His plea was that she was a _stranger_ & that _all_ in the district could not be made to understand what they had not tried -- _finally_ to wind up the matter I told him their better way would be to consult the people more generally & make up what
