Undated (a. 1906) photo of a painting done between 1867 and 1870, showing Shimer College founder Frances Shimer (seated) and her adopted daughter, the short-lived Margaretta Ophelia Mason, head of the music department, who was buried in the Shimer plot in Mount Carroll's Oak Hill Cemetery in 1871. Only known depiction of Miss Mason.
