Jim Donovan is a current member of the faculty at Shimer College, which he joined in 1999.
In 2009, Donovan joined with Beverly Thurber in starting the Quadrivium problem-solving contest at Shimer.[1]
In 2010, he co-taught the Morality of Capitalism course with Marsha Enright, which became a topic of public controversy during the crisis of 2010.[2][3]
Through his previous work at Abbott Laboratories, Donovan is an inventor on several patents, including "Confirmatory Immunoassay Using Microparticle Separation", 1990, US Pat. 5141848.
On February 16, 2011, Donovan delivered a lecture at Shimer under the title "What in the world is the 'What' in the world?":
