Our Candidate tor Senator.

J. M. ltea, the republican candidate lor senator in this district, was born in Chester county* Penn., March 1st, 184G. Came to Carroll county, UK, in 1854. Attended Mt. Carroll Seminary from that date until 1863. Graduated from Chicago University in 1SG7; studied law, was admitted to practice in 1869 by the supreme court of Illinois; removed to Grundy Center, Iowa, August, 1870, where he has since resided, practicing law continually since that date at home in connection with F, G, Moffett, Esq. lie owned and published the Grundy County Atlas from Sept., 1871), till Jan. 1st, 1S76. The only office he ever held was county superintendent of Grundy county for the years 1871 and 1872.

The Grundy County Republican says socially Air. Ilea is very popular with the people of . his locality, and it predicts that he will carry his own county by a large and decisive majority, adding: “That he will ably represent the BJack-hawk-Grundy district will not be questioned. Ever since he reached his majority he has been in the ranks lighting for republican victories.”
