This brief description is released under the CC0 copyright waiver.Grosvenor Cooper (1911–1979) was a professor at the University of Chicago. A leading figure in musical education at the University, he also chaired the Committee on General Studies in the Humanities for many years, and taught all courses in the humanities sequence of the University's great books curriculum. His books Learning to Listen and The Rhythmic Structure of Music (coauthored with Leonard Meyer) remain widely used in the teaching of music appreciation and criticism. Learning to Listen has featured in the curriculum of Shimer College, which continues the Great Books legacy of the U of C, for many years. (from Shimer College Wiki)
